Sound Memories – reminiscence and recall
We offer music and reminiscence workshops in day centres, memory cafes and residential homes for music to aid unlocking precious memories and become a coping mechanism in dealing with and living with symptoms and onset of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
For indoviduals with early and mid-range dementia and Alzheimer’s, our radioscape and picture canvas workshops engage our Sound Memories practices, using music creativity and user-controlled playback as a tool for reminiscence and a sense of moderation of the symptoms and frustration at loss of short-term memory. These workshops are seen to create a sense of contentment and place in the recall of long-term associations through sound and image, resulting in reminiscence creativity and sense of value in personal place in time.
